The Edge (2025) is powered by Dimensity 7400 Ultra and the availability is limited to North America only. The Moto Edge 60 is powered by Dimensity 7300 and is launched in April, 2025. These midrange devices from Motorola originally came with Android 15 OS pre-installed.

Motorola recently upgraded these devices to Android 16, in phases. The upcoming big update for Moto Edge (2025) and Edge 60 midrangers is Android 17. The update contains many interesting and useful features for the Moto users.

Google started the beta testing of Android 17 which is internally codenamed as Cinnamonbun, with the release of first beta on February 13th, 2026 to Pixel devices. Later Google brought the second beta of Android 17 with some bug fixes and improvements over the first one, in late-February.

The third beta of Android 17 reached the Pixel devices in late-March, 2026 with numerous improvements and new features like screen recording tool bar, name free icons and so on. The Final scheduled beta or Beta 4 came out for testing in mid-April, 2026 for the eligible Pixel owners. Later, the Search giant also released a bug fix update under version 4.1 on June 2nd, 2026 to fix some serious bugs reported by users.

At last, the official release of Android 17 happened on June 16th. The OTA rollout for the Pixel 7,8,9 and 10 series devices started on June 17th, 2026. The final version came out with many useful features like screen reactions, live updates, pause point and so on.

Motorola also started the beta testing of Android 17 for some its devices in late-February, so early compared to the previous android developments. However, at that time the beta was available only for limited devices like Edge (2026), G57 and G86, later the Lenovo owned tech giant added many devices to the beta program.

Android 17 : Exclusive features

The Android 17 update contains many awesome features like Material 3 expressive design which brings a major revamp in UI after the initial debut of material design in 2014. The update also includes so many memory handling and battery life improvements.

Material 3 Expressive is one of remarkable things in the update which changes the UI more user friendly and intuitive. Google made Notification dismissal more fluid and meaningful with addition of a new animation system. Dynamic color themes and emphasized typography are some of the features that make material 3 visually appealing.

The update contains many memory optimizations like better garbage collection, to free more RAM. So in daily life Moto Edge 60 and Edge 2025 users may notice better battery life and app switching due to the optimizations.

Live updates

The Android 17 contains a wonderful feature called Live updates which improves user interaction. To check the order delivery status in Quick and food delivery apps, users need to open the app and go the orders section and then check order tracking.

After updating to the latest android versions Edge 60 and Edge (2025) users simply open the notification panel and check the app notification. In the notification only, users can findout the remaining time for delivery. And they also can check the distance of the delivery partner from the delivery point.

Another key feature of this update is Contact Picker mode, in which Google designed keeping the privacy in mind. In the previous android editions, any social media app can ask for contacts permission to read or edit contacts. But in Android 17, users can choose to give either single contact or select multiple contacts permission for the app. And they can even select which phone numbers of the contact can be given access to the app, if the contact is associated with multiple numbers.

Android 17 Pause point

Pause point is another great feature in Android 17 which helps in digital detox and users can prevent time loss on social media or such apps. The app gives additional functionality to digital wellbeing which is not present in previous android versions. Users can snooze app timers, disable app lock outs easily, but pause point works in a entirely different way.

When you open the app, pause point will ask for why the user is opening the for 10 seconds and it can show breathe in dialogue. So that users can think and get clear view about why they have opened the app and what is to look for in the app. The Pause point feature is very hard disable and it requires a reboot. The feature can set timers for specific apps and it even suggest alternative productive or learning apps to the user.

The Android 17 Beta 4 update came with visual changes in Quick settings panel and notifications. Instead of “No notifications”, now it shows “You’re all caught up” just like in Pixel watch. System icon which appears in notifications while updating also changed in the fourth Beta.

Android 17 Rollout for Edge 60 and Edge 2025

Motorola started the beta testing of Edge (2026) and Edge 60 Fusion devices in select regions at this moment. But the Beta testing may extend to Edge 60 and Edge (2025) in coming days. Users can check the official Beta testing page to check the status of the beta for their region. If the Beta details appear then, they can register and wait for the OTA to come for their devices.

Previously Motorola rolled out the Android 16 update to Moto Edge 60 and Edge 2025 devices in August and September 2025, taken 2-3 months after release by Google in June 2025. However, this time Motorola already started internal soak testing of Android 17 beta as per reports. So tech analysts expecting that Motorola may begin official rollout of Android 17 to Moto Edge (2025) in late July 2026. The users of Moto Edge 60 may get the update in early August 2026 atleast in some regions.

Android 17 Beta 4.1 Bug fixes

The Search giant pushed out the Beta 4.1 to eligible Pixel series devices to fix some serious bugs in Beta 4. One of the bugs fixed in this update are after installing Beta 4, testers reported that some times status bar signal coverage bars are showing zero bars even thought cellular signal is there. The issue is fixed successfully in Beta 4.1.

Another visual bug in Quick settings panel is even after turning on Air plane mode, Mobile data toggle is still on. Whenever, Pixel users selected high resolution, while connected to external monitors, it shows all blank in Beta 4. Google fixed these bugs in the latest bug fix update.

Bluetooth audio routing and Hearing aid forget bugs are also solved in this update. The update may come to Edge 60 and Edge (2025) Beta testers very soon.
