One UI 9 Features

Samsung integrated many of the stock android improvements that came with Android 17 in the One UI 9 Beta, currently available for S25. Some of the key features of the update include improved Dex mode, Samsung notes with new tools, revamped quick settings etc.

Google brought the Android 17 update with the key features like Material 3 Expressive interface, screen reactions, live updates, app specific memory limits, Pause point and so on.

Samsung revamped the Dex mode totally in the One UI 9 update. With the native support of Desktop mode in Android 17, Samsung improved it further in its home grown Dex mode. In the new mode, users can move windows from one desktop to another seamlessly. Galaxy S25 users can preview the Apps opened from the recent apps menu, just similar to a real desktop.

If we check the Samsung notes app in the One UI 9 Beta, we can find new brushes for drawing and AI assisted features. Using these refinements, users can use the Samsung Notes more efficiently than in One UI 8 and earlier version.

Redesigned Quick settings panel inspired by Material 3 Expressive UI is another key improvement in the update. Quick settings toggles can be edited and arranged as per user’s interest and convenience. In the Beta, Samsung changed the appearance of media player and separated the volume bar and other sliders.

Pause point

Android 17 came with a good tool to reduce digital addiction. In previous android versions, we have seen Digital well being tools which is originally designed to reduce the digital addiction and improve screen time habits. But, it is very easy for the users to work around to break the app timers. So Google brought Pause point in the latest android update which seems a good way to break doomed scrolling pattern that goes for hours.

In this the feature shows break period of ten seconds before launching the addictive app or also in between scrolling in the app. So user can take deep breaths in those ten seconds and rethink about the purpose of opening the app. The tool also suggests alternative apps like Fitbit and play books, so that users can spend their time in a better way than mindless scrolling.

Screen reactions is a wonderful tool to create content in Android 17. Using the feature, content creators can record their facial expressions using the selfie camera while playing a video in the background.Users can keep any content, as background like a webpage, image or an app. So no need to install third party for this dual screen and front camera recordings.

App specific memory limits is another awesome performance improvement that came in the latest android version. In this android limits the amount of Ram used by an app at any point of time. So there is no lack of Ram for the remaining apps and processes.

Live updates is another appealing feature in Android 17. After updating to One UI 9, the users can track the delivery straight from the notification on lockscreen or home screen without having to open app.

The update also contains revamped Samsung notes app which includes many pen styles and new tools. Samsung also updated the Contacts app in the One UI 9 beta to improve its integration with other apps.
