Android 17 for Moto Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra : Features and Release

Moto Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra are foldable flagships from Motorola, launched in April 2025. These flagships came with Android 15 OS pre-installed and upgraded to Android 16 recently. The next big update for these flagships is Android 17 , Google codenamed internally as ‘Cinnamon bun’.
Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra are foldable devices from Moto which sports gorgeous OLED displays and powered by flagship chipsets. Motorola did a good job in updating these devices to Android 16, according to the users. Some minor bugs still yet to be fixed.
Google started the beta program of Android 17 in February with the rollout of the first beta on 13th, February to the enrolled Pixel devices. Later, on 26th February, the second beta hit the devices which on Beta 1. As per Google, beta testers, in Beta 2, so many bugs have been fixed and user experience is significantly improved.
The Search giant rolled out the third beta on March 26th for the eligible Pixel owners later continued with the rollout of Beta 4 in mid-April, 2026. The fourth Beta is the final schedule beta as per Google but later version 4.1 came out to fix some serious bugs. Finally, Google unveiled Android 17 officially on 16th June, 2026 and the rollout has begun for eligible Pixel devices.

Android 17 update Features
The Android 17 update contains many awesome features like Material 3 expressive design, security refinements, better memory management and Camera improvements.
Google unveiled the material design for first time in 2014 and later introduced material 2 squared theming in 2018. After a long time, the search giant revamped the total UI design in Android 17, named as expressive which works more user friendly. Using Material 3 design, Moto Razr users can snooze or remove notifications efficiently and interact better with app bubbles. Google redesigned the all icons and emojis in the seventeenth iteration of android.
Home screen layout also drastically improved in the latest update. Users can hide the labels of app icons on home screen. So the home screen appears less cluttered and more clean.

The update also contains various camera app improvements and media support for Versatile Video Coding (VVC). So that Razr users can make video editing more efficiently, take photos with granular controls after updating Android 17.
Android 17 Pause Point

After updating to Android 17 beta, Razr 60 Ultra users reported better focus on things they can do on phone, thanks to the Pause point feature in android 17. The feature works in the way better than traditional Digital well being tools in the previous android versions. App lockouts in Android 16 are easy break and users are going around the restrictions.
The Pause point works in such a way that when the user launches an addictive app, the feature shows a 10 seconds pause screen. In that time the user can take deep breaths or define the purpose of opening the app clearly.
The Pause point feature also suggests alternative apps like Kindle, Play books so that users can spend their time on meaningful things. The feature is hard to work around, to break and open the app. Users have to restart their devices in order to open the app to lift the restriction imposed by Pause point.

Moto Razr 60 users also get great content creator features in Android 17 like Screen reactions. Using Screen Reactions support, the user can record the facial expressions while doing screen recording with the native recorder app. So users can show facial reactions at tiny corner of the screen recording. The feature is very useful for content creators who can share on social media like Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp.
Live updates

The live updates is another very useful feature which show the order delivery status, time line directly in notifications. So that users, can check the status of the order directly from home screen or lockscreen, after order in food or quick delivery apps.
Few worth-noting features include app specific memory limits, Quick settings and notification panel refinements.

Android 17 Rollout for Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra
Motorola already started the internal soak testing of Android 17 beta as per user reports in reddit. Motorola included the Razr 60 in the Beta testing devices of Android 17 in select regions. But the Beta testing may spread to more regions in coming weeks.
The official Android 17 update may reach Razr 60 Ultra users in July or August of 2026, according to tech analysts based on current developments. The Razr 60 users also may receive the update in August of 2026 in some regions and in the remaining users may have to wait until Q4, 2026 to taste the Android 17.

Update on 7/6/2026 :
Motorola included more devices into its Android 17 Beta program, so Razr 60 Ultra device owners in some select regions can install Android 17 Beta and taste the Cinnamon bun (internal code name for version 17). The Razr 60 users may also get the Beta program very soon in a few weeks, as per the reports.
Google is getting ready to rollout the final edition of Android 17 to Pixel devices in a few days, around mid-June, so Motorola may also declare the official rollout time frames for its very soon.
