Android 17 for Motorola Signature and Moto Edge Ultra (2025) : Features and Release Date

The Signature is a flagship device from Motorola which is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, launched in January 2026. The flagship came with pre-loaded Android 16 and users will receive 7 major android updates.
The Razr Ultra 2025 is also a flagship phone from Motorola which is launched in April,2025 with pre-installed Android 15. Later, the Lenovo owned tech company delivered the Android 16 update to it few months ago. The next major update for both the devices is Android 17.
Android 17 emerged first time as Beta for Pixel devices in February, 2026. Since then, Google done so much development and released 4 more betas. The second beta came in late-February and the third beta came out in late-March. Android 17 achieved the platform stability with the release of third beta as per Google.
The Search giant dropped Beta 4 in mid- April, 2026 and noted that is the final scheduled beta in the development of Android 17. However, the Pixel lineup users received a crucial bugfix update under the version 4.1 on June 1st, 2026 which is the most recent update in the development till now.

At last, the Mountain view based tech giant released the final version of Android 17 officially on June 16th, 2026. The rollout started from June 17th for the eligible Pixel series owners.
Motorola started the soak testing of Android 17 for its devices in March, 2026. In the beginning, the beta testing is limited to only Edge (2025) and G57, G86 devices but currently the program expanded to Signature also in few regions.
Android 17 Features
Google released the seventeenth iteration of the Android with many remarkable features. The Beta testers using Signature devices reported some of the key refinements an new features in the update. Material 3 Expressive, screen reactions, pause point, live updates, app memory limits, native support for desktop mode are some of the key features of the latest update.

Google introduced the material design for the first time about a decade ago and constantly refined with every new android update. Few years ago, Google introduced Material 2 You design which changes app themes based on wallpapers. Now the search giant brought the Material 3 Expressive with Android 17 OS.
In material 3, Google redesigned all the icon sets, theme color variations, text message backgrounds to create more immersive interface. The user interface of Android 17 is interactive and more user friendly compared to the previous android versions. Upon requests by Android users, Google introduced nameless icons on home screen in this update. So that users can enjoy clutter free home screen.

Notification panel and Quick settings also got revamped in this major android update. In Android 17, if there are no notifications, a dialogue will appear as “You’re all caught up” in the notification panel, in the same way as in Pixel Watch. The quick settings toggles and media player controls got redesigned with new Material 3 design.
Pause Point

Google added the Pause point feature in Android 17 which helps to prevent mindless scrolling for hours. The app timers in the digital well being tools are very easy to break and may not work for all the users. That’s why Google introduced the Pause point feature in the update, to improve user’s wellbeing. The feature display a 10 seconds timer window before opening an app and also gives ten second break period in between usage. In those 10 seconds, the user can do deep breaths and thus breaks the addictive pattern.
The feature is quite helpful to limit the time spent on addictive social media apps. Because to work around the timer imposed by Pause point, users have to reboot their devices. Users can easily explore the alternative apps suggested by Pause point to improve their productivity.
Screen Reactions in Android 17

Screen Reactions is another famous new feature came with the Android 17 update. Using the feature, users can record their facial reaction using front camera while a webpage or image or video playing in the background. The feature is very useful for content creators without any dependency on third party apps.

Custom Contacts Picker modes

In Android 17, Google introduced different Contact picker modes which are very useful in terms of privacy and also simple. In the Android 17 Beta, Motorola Signature users can try the new selection modes. Users can access different modes to share contacts to app like Single Contact mode in which only one contact is shared with the specific app.
In the multiple contacts and multiple phone numbers selection modes users can choose multiple contacts or multiple numbers to share with the app respectively. This feature helps to protect privacy because there is no need to grant permission for the app to access all contacts.
Android 17 Release dates for Motorola Signature and Moto Edge Ultra (2025)
Since Motorola already started the official beta testing of the Android 17 update for the Signature flagship in LATAM and Brazil regions, the testing most probably will spread to more regions by the end of June. Most likely, the official rollout begins from July, 2026 in select regions and in some regions users have to wait till August to taste the latest android version.
Moto Edge Ultra (2025) is the next device to be included in the beta testing as Edge (2026) users already received the Beta update. Based on the current developments, Motorola may start the Beta rollout for Edge Ultra (2025) from July, 2026 onwards.
The official rollout for Edge Ultra (2025) may start in Q4 of 2026 in most of the regions.
