The Moto G56 is launched with Android 15 pre-installed and then Motorola upgraded it to Android 16. The next major update for both the mid-rangers is Android 17 which is now out for the eligible Google Pixel series devices.
Google released the Android 17 Beta 1 in mid-February and later dropped the second Beta in late-February. Although, the first two betas contain many interesting features and improvements over Android 16, however only in Beta 3, Android 17 attained platform stability.
Lastly, the Search giant made available the Beta 4, which is the final scheduled beta in the development of Android 17 in mid- April. However, for fixing crucial bugs, another update came under version 4.1 for Pixel series devices on June 2nd, 2026.

After extensive beta testing and development, Google released the Android 17 update officially on June 16th, 2026. The eligible Pixel owners started receiving the update on 17th June.
Motorola also has begun the Beta testing for its devices in March, 2026. Initially the beta was available for G57, Edge (2025) devices in select regions only. But later, Motorola expanded the beta availability to more devices and regions. The Beta which is being tested by Moto users is very similar to stock Android 17 Beta rolled out by Google.
Android 17 Remarkable Features

The Seventeenth iteration of Android came with many visual refinements, battery saving tweaks, performance improvements, better AI integration and many more.
The key visual refinements include Expressive design which is the third major revamp for Material design. In the update, Google redesigned all the icons, emojis and the user interface. The UI is designed in such a way that the user can interact better with their devices which saves a lot of time and also improves productivity.
Google also introduced the name free icons for home screen in Android 17. The feature has been requested by many android users, and it came out in the latest update. So users can hide app labels on home screen by going into Wallpaper & Style section toggle off the app label switch. Then, users can experience the beautiful home screen layout without cluttering and enjoy more free space.
Screen Reactions

One of the key upgrades in the latest iteration of useful for content creators is Screen reactions. Users can start recording their expressions through front camera with ongoing screen recording in the background. Users can record any webpage, video or image keeping on the screen and share their views on it. The feature is very useful content creators and they can share their reactions without any third party apps.
Pause Point

The Android 17 update contains another remarkable feature called Pause point which is a new addition for digital well being tools. The feature works in a way different than traditional digital well being tools, in the earlier android versions. The Pause point feature shows a break time 10 seconds in between usage and also immediately after launching addictive apps. The user can take deep breaths in those 10 seconds which helps to break the pattern and de-addiction.
Users can set timer for app usage specifically and post the timer, Pause point restricts the app usage. The feature works differently than app timers which is present in Android 16, the restrictions are difficult to break and even need to restart the device to launch the addictive app again. The feature even suggests alternative productive apps like Play books, so that users can spend their time in a productive way.
The update also contains app specific memory limits which is very important for performance improvement. The Android 17 restricts the peak RAM used by an app, so that the remaining is still available for the background tasks and new apps if launched. So users can experience better multitasking after updating to the seventeenth major Android update.
Live updates

Food and Quick delivery services are becoming so popular in some regions these days. Most of the android users place the orders on a daily basis. However, tracking the order is hassle in some apps, users need to open the orders section and check the specific order tracking.
In the upcoming update, Google added Live updates which is a key feature, helps many users by providing minute wise updates in notifications of quick delivery apps. So the users can find out position of food or instant delivery services straight from home screen or lockscreen and no need to open the app and go to the status of order.
