Android 17 update coming soon for Galaxy S25 FE
The Samsung S25 FE is a flagship device launched in September, 2025 with pre installed Android 16 OS. The smart phone is powered by Exynos 2400 chipset and sports 8GB Ram. Samsung released One UI 8.5 update in May, 2026 to S25 FE users. The next big update for the flagship is Android 17 or One UI 9 which is in beta phase now.
Google rolled out the first beta of Android 17 in mid February to registered Pixel users with many awesome features like Material 3 Expressive design, native support for desktop mode. Later, in late February, 2026 another Beta is dropped which contains improvements in key areas. However, Android 17 achieved platform stability only in Beta 3 which came Pixel devices on March 26th, 2026.
The Beta 3 contains some remarkable features like app memory limits, better platform stability. The final scheduled Beta in the development of the seventeenth iteration of Android arrived in mid-April, 2026. The Beta 4 contains many new features and refinements over the previous beta. Some of them are new notification panel, quick settings, live updates, screen reactions and so on.
Later, the Search giant released the Android 17 Beta 4.1 update on June 2nd, 2026 which contains numerous crucial bug fixes. Finally, Android 17 came out officially out of Beta phase with the release on June 16th, 2026. The eligible Pixel devices started receiving the update on June 17th, 2026.
Samsung One UI 9 Beta
The South Korean tech giant launched the Beta program for its flagship devices in May, 2026. The South Korean tech giant opened the program initially only S26 flagship series but later expanded to include S25 series. The S25 FE is still yet to appear in the Beta program.
The Samsung One UI 9 Beta 1 came with refinements in Samsung Notes app, quick settings panel changes and many visual refinements. Samsung release the Beta 2 in late-May for S26 series, the second beta contains many fixes for the bugs reported by users.
Android 17 Exclusive Features
Material 3 Expressive design is key visual refinement which improves interaction with digital devices a lot, according to reviewers. The Search giant launched the Material design almost a decade ago and brought Material 2 design which is minor refinement. In the new iteration of Material design, Google revamped all the app icons and introduced name less icons on the home screen.
The Quick settings also got refined very much with redesigning of toggles and media player. Galaxy S25 FE users can customize the Quick settings in a better compared to previous One UI 8.5. The notification panel shows as “You’re all caught up” similar to Pixel watch instead of boring “No notifications” dialogue in the previous android versions.
Improved Samsung Dex mode
With the arrival of native support of desktop mode in Android 17, Samsung reshaped its home grown Dex mode. In the One UI 9 Beta, users got pleasantly surprised on using the new Dex mode. The Dex mode in latest update is not only very much stable but also got additional functionality. Users can move app windows seamlessly between one workspace to another. They can preview the apps from recent apps quite similar to a desktop windows.
So after updating to Android 17, S25 FE users can connect the devices to a supported WebTV or Monitor, then work similar to desktop.
Pause point
The Pause point is a great addition to the Digital well-being tools which came a few years ago. The previous digital well-being tools are a bit easy to break and users found ways to break them. However, the latest Pause point features works very well to reduce use of addictive apps and prevents doomed scrolling for hours.
The feature is works in such a way that it displays a 10 second timer window before opening the app and display the same timer in between usage of the app. In those 10 seconds, the app user can take deep breaths and think about why opened the app in the first place. The app is better at restricting the usage time, because users need to restart their devices to reset the app specific timers.
The feature even suggests alternative apps like Play books, fitbit while opening the addictive social media apps. So users can spend their time more meaningfully. The feature is yet to come out for Samsung Beta users but the South Korean tech giant may include it in the next beta.
Samsung Notes
The Notes app is an essential app that is used by many users daily. In the Android 17 / One UI 9 update, Samsung revamped the app with addition of new features. In the new note app, users can cover the existing or handwritten text using decorative tapes, which can be removed if necessary. The S25 beta testers claim that this feature is very useful for students active recall and hiding the portions of text which is not relevant every time.
The Notes app also contains numerous new brushing styles. So after updating to One UI 9, Galaxy S25 FE users can choose between various pen brushes to write.
Android 17 (One UI 9) Release Date for Galaxy S25 FE
The South Korean tech giant is gearing up to release the One UI 9 update early for its devices. This time, Samsung started the Beta development very early even before the final release of Android 17. The S25 FE users can opt for Beta testing through Samsung Members app, once the tech company opens registrations for S25 FE.
The final rollout for S25 FE can happen in Q3 of 2026, as per the previous rollout trends and current early developments. The South Korean tech giant most likely start the rollout in the North America then in Europe and India.
