Android 17 for Galaxy S24 FE and S23 FE : Release Date and Features
Galaxy S24 FE is a flagship device from Samsung, arrived with pre-installed Android 14 and powered by Exynos 2400e chipset. The predecessor, S23 FE came with inbuilt Android 13 and powered by Exynos 2200 chipset. Both flagships received the Android 16 with One UI 8 update recently.
The next major update for these devices is Android 17, which is currently in beta testing phase. Google launched the first beta on February 13th, to Pixel devices. Later, the second beta rolledout on February 26th, with some major bug fixes and new features over Beta 1.
For Galaxy S23 FE, Samsung promised 4 major upgrades only, so most likely, Android 17 with One UI 9 will be the last upgrade for S23 FE owners. Few S23 FE and S24 FE owners reported some bugs like excess battery drain, app crashes after updating to One UI 8. Samsung may fix these bugs in One UI 9 update, so that users can experience better interface.
Google began the public testing of Android 17 with the release of Beta 1 in mid-February with awesome user interface polished with material 3 expressive design. Later, Beta 2 came with some new features and critical bug fixes in late-February 2026.
However, the seventeenth edition of Android reached platform stability with the release of Beta 3 in late-March only. The beta 3 came with many sweet features like name less icons, app specific memory limits, screen recording tool bar and so on. The Search giant released the Beta 4 and 4.1 in April and June respectively. At last the final version came out officially on June 16th, 2026.
Android 17 Remarkable Features
Google revamped the user interface in Android 17 with the addition of improved Material 3 Expressive design. The interface contains easier notification removal, snoozing, and refined app bubbles feature and so on.
The camera refinements in One UI 9 update includes new APIs which support faster camera switching, better filters, so that users can take nice photos and videos easily after updating. The update includes codec support for VVC which provides more compression than traditional formats and supports 4K video too.
The Android 17 update contains memory management refinements and measures to prevent battery drain. So Galaxy S23 FE and S24 FE users may experience seamless app switching and less battery drain after receiving the One UI 9 update.
Pause Point
One of the remarkable features of Android 17 is Pause point which a new addition to Digital well being tools. Usually, users can break the app timers in digital wellbeing very easily and continue mindless scrolling for hours. However, with the Pause point in the latest update, users can restrict their app usage effectively if they wanted.
The feature display a ten seconds break screen before launching addictive apps and in between usage too. Thereby, users can take deep breaths and rethink once again. The app even suggest healthy apps to spend time on like Play books and Fitbit.
The South Korean tech giant added some more home grown improvements to the One UI 9 like better Dex mode, new tools for Samsung Notes app, revamped Quick settings and so on.
Android 17 Release Dates for Galaxy S23 FE and S24 FE :
The Search giant is preparing to release the final version of Android 17 in June 2026 for Pixel devices. Samsung also may begin the soak testing Android 17 for its flagships in July 2026, and the final rollout most likely start in October 2026, as per analysts. However, since the rollout happens in phases, in some regions, users may have to wait till Q4 of 2026 to experience Android 17.

Update on 21/6/2026 :
Google released the Android 17 update officially through AOSP on June 16th and the rollout for the Pixel series 7 onwards devices started on June 17th. Samsung has started the beta program of One UI 9 in May 2026 for S26 and S25 series flagships in select regions. Currently the south korean tech giant is testing the Beta internally and few enthusiasts found the version numbers specific for S23FE and S24 FE. It seems like Samsung also getting ready to rollout the Beta of Android 17 officially for S23 FE and S24 FE soon.
Interested users can download Samsung Members app and register themselves for beta testing. After a while Samsung may push out the One UI 9 beta for the registered users in phases.
